I kept trying to figure out how to spell this guy’s name for the longest time. The kids here keep ranting and raving about this mix from Brazillian Bruno Belloumini. Who? wtf? Oh, fine, i’ll dl it. So i did. And all of a sudden my knees had a special wobbly place in them. I wooed, and swooned. Get it, get it now if you dont have it already. It’s making a lot of waves in all the right places. 4.5/5 stars

Christian Martin: Live at Dirtybird Golden Gate BBQ mixPosted by: admin in Cool Shit, musicYou remember UN right? No, not the big monolithic monstrosity in new york, I mean UN, the Underground Nation, the nightclub that once occupied the space where Lotus is now. Where empire and 211 used to be. It was a special place at the time. None of the sleek tile work or flat screen tv’s were there. It was hard. It was gritty. It had black walls, funky graiting on the side, a pool table in the sometimes open upstairs, and the entrence was in the parking lot, not on Gold St. I have a tonass of fond memories of that club; i saw Rabbit in the Moon and Deepsky play there for the first time. I went there and had my first “moment”… that one where everyone is packed in and jaming down exactly the same way to the same time. It was magic. The first thing i heard one minnute into this mix was UN, that dark, underground place that i could let loose in. Christian Martin throws down some of the best deep house in this mix that i’ve heard in a very, very long time. This is earning a permenant spot on my ipod, which you may or may not know is something of an achievement, since i listen and review to so many mixes. Skip this one at your own risk. 5/5 stars Oh, and dont miss him at the dirtybird/blackout part comming up this month on the 18th. Swooped and and caused a lot of doom here in the last half of the month. It was a tough week, and nmscene sufered for it, but do not fear, many music links are in the pipe line along with a new blogroll link to be added tonight. There’s some sick shit on this, wish i had gotten it earlier. Much love to the Peggy Lee vs Iggy Pop. To be downloaded post haste. Joe Nice, who recently decimated Albuquerque with dub from beyond, was nice enough to post up on Deep a recent mix of his, live at Dubwar. There are a few technical glitches in the intro, and a few spots i didn’t quite dig, but some damn ill tracks in this mix. there’s no point in listening to this on your ipod through lil headphones, like i tried. Get you a system with BASS to appreciate. 4/5 stars download here (right click to save as) This was a fun one….Enjoy ! TRACKLIST: INTRO: DUBSTEP: (artist : title) |
